Well, it was a blast!

After months of planning and applications and budgets and weeks of rehearsal … two great seasons of my play! Wellington turned out for it and the last week in Auckland was sold out. It was blessed with a fantastic cast who did the piece proud; the Dom Post rightly declared that they were all exceptional. That’s one great advantage of producing yourself: you can make sure the casting is right for the characters. I won’t tell you how often productions of my plays have been compromised by casting that is bad, or just plain weird!

Already I’m starting to think about return seasons in Auckland and Wellington, and looking into the realities of putting it on in Christchurch and Dunedin. And then there’s festivals overseas. I have a hunch this show could travel. And if I don’t give it a crack I’ll never know!
